I Can Assure You, We're Not Gay Either
Posted by Bob Biscigliano in Detroit Red Wings, inspiration, misleading headline from ESPN
Not the greatest headliner ever created by ESPN. I'm sure Lindstrom and Zetty really appreciated it. We rebutted. "Rebutted" is a funny sounding word for the circumstances. What can Wings fans be in a lively mood about right now? The Wings have been sitting at win 49 for over a week, just one shy of their fourth consecutive 50 win season. They have now lost three in a row after last night's 5-4 loss to the Blues and four out of their last five. If this were the middle of the season, not much would be said about a three game losing streak, but it is getting dangerously close to playoff time and the Red Wings do not want to go in on a sour note. Losing to particularly unworthy opponents does not help that cause.
Goaltending has been the big question mark all season and it continues to be as the Wings can't seem to find a consistent answer in net. They have given up nine goals in the past two games and sixteen in their last four losses. If the Wings want to repeat this season one of the goalies, Osgood or Conklin is going to have to step up here down the stretch and lead them on through. Playoff hockey is a completely different game and the Wings will not be able to allow any cheap goals or else they will find themselves with a quick, and unexpected exit out of the postseason.
I'm not too concerned with the offensive play of the Wings although come playoff time, defenses will inherently get tougher. I still don't see this as causing a problem for all the explosiveness we have. I'm really looking forward to the playoffs.
And since they are just around the corner and it's looking like the Red Wings will be the two seed in the Western Conference, it's time to get pumped up. This may be a little premature but I don't care. This video is spine tingling and will make you want to flat out compete in whatever it is you're doing right after you watch it. I know this because after I finished watching, I immediately picked up a football sitting near my desk and chucked it at what I thought was a wide open wide-receiver near the end zone in the waning seconds of a close championship game. Instead, it was a lamp and the light bulb shattered everywhere. This 2-minute clip is also very applicable to Michigan State basketball and Tigers baseball since they both embark on big endeavors this weekend/Monday. Enjoy:
big ups to reader General for forwarding this video to me
